As OCTIA has now passed into other hands and has its own blog, I shall close my OCTIA blog down and open a new blog using this address.
My new blog will be about my personal work as an online counsellor rather than my work as a Director and Tutor for Online Training for Counsellors Ltd. It will hopefully be use for people who may choose to visit my personal website GJCounselling.co.uk.

FULL PROGRAMME NOW ON WEBSITE !
The full programme for our first OCTIA conference has now been finalised and can be seen on the OCTIA website. The first presentation, from Jeannie Wright in New Zealand, should give food for thought to those who are still sceptical about working online, there is input from Samaritans about their email service and from Relate and a taste of what the online therapy scene is like across the Atlantic.
There are also four workshops to choose from for those who attend the conference in person at the University of Leicester.
Tickets are on sale now so get yours before they all go! If you can't be there in person you can join in via the internet and tickets for this are available too!

Date and Venue Now Confirmed!
The first ever OCTIA Conference will be held on Saturday 25th April 2009 at the University of Leicester. So please get out your diaries, everyone, and keep that date free!
We have a lot to arrange in a very short time and are working non-stop to make sure that this will be an event to remember. A website is in progress on which you will be able to see more details and book tickets, either to come in person to to join us via your computer.
Some speakers will be physically present in Leicester, some will be linked live from overseas locations and, where this is not possible, other contributions will be pre-recorded. There will be workshops for those who attend in person, but all should be able to ask questions of the speakers.
More news as it happens!

I attended the "Program for the Future Conference" this week that was held in California USA and in Second Life (SL)
At the SL site there was a huge screen where you could see and hear what was happening in California and there were systems in place to allow SL visitors to feed back their reactions and ask questions.
This is very exciting for OCTIA as it means its a real possibility that we could use this kind of technology at the conference and allow access to many more participants than are able to physically travel to the conference "real life" location.

OCTIA - Online Counselling and Therapy Online In Action
An exciting new initiative in online counselling and therapy will take place in April 2009 when Online Counselling Ltd and ACTO jointly host the first British online counselling Conference.
Online Counselling Ltd. is the the largest of the three UK organisations that currently offer online training to qualifed counsellors. ACTO, the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online, is the umbrella organisation for therapists who did their initial training in the UK and who work online.
(You can find out more about these organisations by visiting their websites in our 'Useful Links' section.)
The Conference, known as OCTIA - Online Counselling and Therapy in Action - will incorporate both terrestrial and virtual elements. In other words, either you can go there in person or, if you are unable to do so, you can take part in the proceedings via live streaming.
